Show Description
The information age meets the Classical (and Romantic) era in this quirky show! All works are public domain symphonies, featuring symphonies by Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Mahler, and Tchaikovsky! We begin with a dark bass clarinet solo (or section feature) based on Tchaikovsky’s Sixth Symphony. After this explosive and foreboding opening production, Mahler’s First Symphony features woodwind choirs in a bright and joyous romp. Darkness returns in Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony, featuring low brass ensemble frequently interrupted by dial tones. Lastly, Rachmaninoff’s Second Symphony shows off the versatility and technique of the band. This challenging movement can also be replaced with your favorite symphonic finale (or a medley of themes from multiple symphonic works). This show is a great opportunity to teach your students about different composers of the past and expose them to great music - all while presenting a competitive and entertaining show!
