Show Description
The quest for a new home. Dvorak may have written his Ninth Symphony to convey the discovery of new (to the settlers) land, but this show takes it further. Imagine a pod of humanity flying through space, looking for a new planet to settle. The opening production, from Hans Zimmer’s score to Interstellar, conveys the epic feelings those pioneers might feel. As they pass the planets in our solar system, Holst’s Mars and Jupiter make an appearance. The ballad is Stadium Arcadium by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, a reflective view of the vast open stars of our universe. Dvorak makes an appearance throughout the show, finally being realized in the last production. Although this show deals with cosmic themes, the real message is of the resilience of the human spirit.
