Show Description

Three “D” composers are the stars of this show - Debussy, Dvorak, and Daft Punk! The Adagio from Dvorak’s Ninth Symphony - the New World - opens up, scored for mellophone octet (this can be re-scored for your instrumentation). Our energetic opener plays with the Dvorak material and Debussy’s The Girl With the Flaxen Hair, alternating between these two titans. Daft Punk’s Adagio from the film Tron is a darker detour, with flute and soprano saxophone soloists interweaving. The third production begins with brass backfield performing Debussy’s The Sunken Cathedral, while the woodwinds interject with Daft Punk and Dvorak’s melodic moments. An accelerando causes this show to spiral out of control, culminating in a huge epic dance moment with Daft Punk’s Get Lucky. The show wraps up by combining the music from all three composers, leaving the audience joyful and thoroughly entertained.
